Our Story — From Heartbreak to Hope

At Willow Beagle Kennels , we’re more than just a dog breeding business—we’re a family built on faith, resilience, and a deep love for the dogs and people we serve.

Behind every puppy adoption and training session are the two people who started it all: My name is Ben Willow, and i manages everything from breeding and puppy care to adoptions and training, and my wife Laura, who lovingly handles our website content, client communication, and so much more.

But we’re far from doing this alone. We’re blessed with an incredible team:

  • Caleb Anderson, our kennel manager and master trainer, whose leadership and heart have become the backbone of our operation

  • Riley Monroe, another talented and compassionate master trainer

  • Heather, our dedicated accountant based in Medford, Oregon

  • And our wonderful web developers Avery & Nolan, along with their team, who keep our online presence strong and thriving

Each one brings something special to our mission. We couldn’t do this without them.

A Season of Struggle

In late 2019, our lives were turned upside down.

A parvovirus outbreak swept through our kennel. We did everything in our power to help. We covered emergency vet bills, stayed up through sleepless nights, and watched our income vanish almost overnight. For months, we operated at a loss. We fell into debt. And we were left wondering how much more we could take.

But in that moment of hardship, we saw the best in people.

Local friends stepped up in ways we’ll never forget. Families opened their homes to our mama dogs and their litters so they could quarantine safely away from the kennel. We’re especially thankful to the Millers, the Carlsons, the Bennetts, and the Harveys—friends and fellow breeders who stood with us in our darkest days.

Then came another blow.

Even though we lived in a rural area, the county told us our property wasn’t zoned for a breeding kennel. To stay in business, we had to re-home more of our female dogs—placing them with trusted families who would raise them in loving homes and return them to us only for breeding. We’d done this before on a small scale, but now it became essential.

Tired, discouraged, and unsure of what the future held, we put the business up for sale.

But God had other plans.

A Whisper from God

In that quiet, uncertain time, Ben felt a deep stirring in his heart—a gentle but firm message from God:

“Put first things first.”

Put God first. Trust His plan. Let go of control.

So we waited. We prayed. No buyers came. And slowly, we began to see what we hadn’t before: our forced transition to family-raised dogs wasn’t just a workaround. It was the way forward.

That storm had pushed us toward a better path.

Today, every one of our breeding females lives in a loving home through our Guardian Home Program. These incredible families raise our dogs as their own, and when it’s time, they return them to us for breeding. In return, they share in the joy—and blessing—of each new litter.

It’s a partnership built on trust, love, and shared purpose. And it never would have existed without the trials that brought us here.

A Miracle in the Making

Just as we were beginning to rebuild, COVID-19 swept across the world.

Like everyone, we didn’t know what to expect. But something unexpected happened: our business began to thrive. As people worked from home and faced isolation, the need for companionship grew—and so did the demand for well-bred, well-trained puppies.

Within months, we paid off our debts.

We moved to a peaceful nearby town.

We found a beautiful new home—with room for our family, our dogs, and a breathtaking view .

And, perhaps most miraculously, we found a property perfectly zoned for our kennel operations—tucked into a rural setting, yet fully compliant. It felt like God saying: “Here. This is where I want you now.”

Grateful Beyond Words

What began as heartbreak became healing. What felt like the end was actually a beginning.

Every puppy we raise, every family we serve, every challenge we’ve walked through—it’s all a chapter in a much bigger story. God’s story.

We continue on this journey with grateful hearts, knowing none of it would be possible without the grace of God, the support of our team, and the kindness of the families who’ve stood by us. From our business to our ministry work through True North Adventures, we’ve seen firsthand what happens when you step out in faith and let God lead.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Matthew 6:33

Thank you for walking this road with us. We are so incredibly thankful—and deeply blessed.
